Volunteer Firefighter (paid, on call)

As a Volunteer Firefighter / Rescue Member, you’ll train with the best, respond to emergencies, and protect lives, property, and our community. From battling blazes and rescuing accident victims to providing life-saving first aid, every call you answer will make a real difference.

What You’ll Do:

• Respond to fire, rescue, and medical emergencies
• Operate firefighting and rescue equipment
• Participate in ongoing training to keep your skills sharp
• Be a dependable member of a close-knit, highly trained team

What You Bring:

• A strong sense of duty and community pride
• Physical fitness and mental resilience
• Ability to remain calm in high-stress situations
• Live within the Municipality of Central Elgin or within reasonable response time to the Belmont, Port Stanley, Union, or Yarmouth fire stations
• Commitment to training and regular call response
• Be at least 18 years old
• Have a valid Class G driver’s license

• Dedicate two hours each week to sharpening your skills at training night:
  • Port Stanley: Monday nights
  • Yarmouth: Monday nights
  • Belmont: Wednesday nights
  • Union: Thursday nights
• Complete formal training courses within your first year (evenings and weekends).
• Obtain medical clearance and pass a physical test to ensure you’re ready for the demands of the job.
• Pass a driver’s abstract and secure a vulnerable sector check to meet our high standards of trust and professionalism.
